We spoke to fellow Goldsmiths alumni The Völvas about their show The Vagina Dialogues which will be heading to edfringe for the last ten days of the festival alongside our show Follow Suit. See what they had to say about their feminist work.
Tell us a bit about your show: The Vagina Dialogues is a series of episodic monologues, duologues, and movement pieces. It’s innately feminist, humorous, and let’s face it, a little bit nude in its approach. What sort of theatre do you make? Funny, political new writing, with a feminist focus, based on personal experiences. It’s collaborative, diverse and ensemble driven. What’s the most important thing that theatre should be/do/have? It should challenge. It should be reflective of the human condition. It should make you still be thinking about it on the bus on the way home. And it should have better representation of women in it than it does currently. What shows at the fringe are you most looking forward to? Police Cops in Space - The Pretend Men - Pleasance Sara Pascoe LadsLadsLads - Pleasance Hot Brown Honey - Assembly Roxy Two Man Show - Rash Dash - Summerhall Dane Baptiste G.O.D. (Gold. Oil.
