It's finally here!! We've been waiting and waiting, nail biting and excited dancing, for VAULT Festival to start, and it is FINALLY HERE! We can't wait to get down to Waterloo to take in the atmosphere and see some shows! We have compiled a list of (only some) shows we are looking forward to, and why we love festivals like this so much. We are super excited to see a massive amount of work about mental health in the VAULT programme 2018. Our new show A Clown Show About Rain is a comic dance-clown piece about understanding and dealing with depression, but we are so happy that there is a wealth of shows at VAULT discussing all different kinds of mental health struggles. In the first week we have Strawberry Starburst by Kryptonite Theatre Company which follows the life of a teenage girl suffering with eating disorders, and A Robot in Human Skin by Nicole Henrikson looks at the way we treat and understand mental health. Surprise! by Lauren Silver talks candidly about living with anxiety, while Assmonkey: In Conversation by Sophia del Pizzo looks at the struggles of anxiety and depression combined, then later in the festival, Kane Power's beautiful show Mental discusses bipolar disorder, and the effects this illness has on a mother/son relationship. We are also excited about the amount of politically driven work in the programme. We love a discussion about almost anything here at Silent Faces, and ever since making our show Follow Suit, we are convinced that however boring/stressful/infuriating an issue is it can definitely be turned into a piece of excellent theatre. From immersive live-action gaming theatre Revolution to environmental clowning One Duck Down there is something for every kind of political theatre goer at this years festival! We are also really looking forward to Evros: The Crossing River, Great Again: The Musical and The Dirty Thirty!
You can see Silent Faces shows Follow Suit on 7-11th March at 19.15 with a sunday matinee at 17.00, and A Clown Show About Rain on 16-17th March at 18.10 and 15.55. We can't wait to see you there!
